Mine Shaft & Rock House complex is northern Michigan’s premier destination for fun, food and drinks. With the history of ‘Copper Country’ as its inspiration, Mine Shaft was designed to reflect Quincy Mineshaft No. 6, which still stands and overlooks Houghton. With timbered beams, ore cart tracks and the rock tables and copper-embedded bar of the Rock House, Mine Shaft environment reflects the mining era of a time gone by. Located just south of historic downtown Houghton, Mine Shaft offers a variety of entertainment options including bowling, video games, go-karts, miniature golf and a virtual reality roller coaster experience.
With 18 lanes of Hi-tech and Cosmic bowling, Mine Shaft is the largest bowling center in the Northwestern UP. Whether it is league bowling during the day and early evening, or Cosmic bowling at night, our leading edge audio visual system supplies the background for an exciting and energy packed bowling experience. The bowling lane tables are serviced by a professional wait staff to meet your culinary and beverage needs, allowing our guests to bowl, drink and try one of our made-from-scratch entrees, appetizers or desserts.
Max Flight, the virtual reality roller coaster, twirls and spins as its riders sit in the cockpit and watch the track and scenery pass by on a full screen monitor, as the moves match the turns, spins and dives.
Mine Shaft’s video arcade is home to over 40 video and redemption games that test the skills of both avid gamers and beginners alike, and offers games for every age. The adjacent prize zone provides hundreds of quality merchandise items that can be purchased by tickets won in the arcade.
Outside and weather permitting, Mine Shaft hosts the Huron Creek Speedway with its quarter mile track of twist and turns, along with a bridge and tunnel. With gas powered go-karts and ‘Formula One’ cars, this adrenaline-pumping experience is a guaranteed blast.
Adjacent to the raceway is the 18-hole putting golf course, with a challenging set of par 2, par 3 and par 4 holes. Whether you’re a beginner or professional, all guests will be challenged and have loads of fun.
After a long day of playing and competing, our guests can relax at the Rock House Grill & Tavern, our full service restaurant located in Mine Shaft.
